What you are agreeing to when you take part in an Oxford Connect event
The aim of Oxford Connect is to connect you with concepts, ideas and research from the University of Oxford. We want everyone to have a good time so we’ve got some ground rules we’re asking you to follow when you take part. These can be summed up in one sentence: act in the way you want others to act towards you. We want everyone to have a great experience so if anyone behaves inappropriately in any of our events, we will remove their contributions and access.
Our Legal notice page goes into a bit more detail about our ground rules. It is worth taking a look at this page so that you know what is involved when you participate on our site and in our events.
It’s a good idea to take a look at our Privacy and cookies page as well. This tells you what types of personal information will be gathered when you visit this site and how this information will be used.
Our events are recorded and published on the web. When you take part in one, you are agreeing to allow us to record, publish and use your contributions. If you decide you want us to remove any material you have contributed to our events or you see anything that bothers you, let us know via oxfordconnect@conted.ox.ac.uk.
Are you under 16?
If so, you need to get your parent or carer’s permission before taking part in Oxford Connect. If your parent or carer wants to find out a bit more before they say you can participate, we would be happy to answer any questions they may have. They can reach us at oxfordconnect@conted.ox.ac.uk.
Are you under 13?
We will not collect personal information from you. This means you’ll not be able to join our online lecture theatre unless your parent of carer signs up and you both take part together. Here are the details of our Under 13’s policy for your parent or carer to read:
Under 13’s policy
Some countries from which participants wish to access Oxford Connect have laws to protect children from unsuspecting acts or practices in conjunction with collecting, using and disclosing information about them. In order to comply with those laws, and to follow recognised good practice, Oxford Connect will not knowingly accept, collect, maintain or use any information from a child under the age of thirteen (13). If a child whom Oxford Connect knows to be under the age of thirteen (13) sends personal information to us online, Oxford Connect will only use that information to respond directly to that child, notify parents or seek parental consent.
